Old Charlottesville, Inc. was created in 1979 as a non-profit educational organization formed to identify historic and architecturally significant structures in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, Virginia, with particular emphasis on the central section of Charlottesville (4th Street area). Among its goals were the publication and preservation of writings, blueprints, and maps about local architecture; and the purchase, restoration, and maintenance of historic homes and buildings in the area.
The collection contains meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and legal papers relating to the organization of Old Charlottesville, Inc. Of particular interest is the organization's involvement with city zoning ordinances and the Queen Charlotte condominium project.
