The National Advisory Board on Highway Research, founded in 1920, provided a mechanism for the exchange of information and research results about highway technology. Renamed the Highway Research Board (HRB) in 1925, the organization accomplished its mission through standing committees, publications, and an annual meeting. Information exchange remained its sole mission until the 1950s, when it began to undertake management of ad hoc research projects. In 1974 the Highway Research Board became the Transportation Research Board.
One titled "Pictorial story of road test one - MD. A project directed by the Highway Research Board, June to December 1950." The report mostly consists of black and white photographs and graphs. There is also an office memorandum to Mr. Royall from C. Ritter (photographer) from June 24, 1953, detailing photographs taken and hours worked.
Arranged by subject and type of material.
The Special Collections Research Center holds many other collections and publications on the subject of Transportation.
