Biographical or Historical Information

Dr. Charles E. Vogan, Professor Emeritus, served Old Dominion University from 1950-1976 in the Music Department, and as Chair of that department from 1950-1965. Vogan was born in 1910 in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania. From early childhood, Vogan was interested in music and learned how to play the piano and the organ. In 1950, he moved to Virginia and became the Chairman of the music department at the Norfolk Division of William and Mary, later known as Old Dominion University where he served for fifteen years. Vogan retired from ODU in 1976 and continued his work as an organist at a local church. Charles Vogan passed away in March of 1986.

Scope and Contents

The collection contains material related to the Music Club at the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary and Old Dominion University collected by music professor Dr. Charles E. Vogan. Included in the collection are music programs, invitations, sponsors, meeting minutes, budgets, correspondence and new clippings concerning the arts.
