This collection was acquired by Newman Library prior to 1958. In April 1958, the collection was part of a larger group of unrelated materials moved from the old library to Newman Library, and the group of items was on display in Newman Library until 1969. The materials were brought to Special Collections and named "Glass Case Collection". In January 1978, the materials were split up into individual collections, which is when this collection was created.
The processing, arrangement, and description of the Andrew Johnson Check was completed prior to February 2011. Additional description was completed in February 2011.
