The processing, arrangement, and description of the James Bernard Jones Memorabilia commenced and was completed in 1968. Additional description was completed in April 2009.
James Bernard Jones lived in Gordonsville, Virginia, prior to attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was a student from 1917 to 1921, and was one of the youngest of his class. He graduated in 1921 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at VPI, he was involved in the Tennis and Racquet clubs, and the Lee Literary Society, among other activities.
Senior photographs of James Bernard Jones are available online on page 92 of the 1921 Bugle yearbook (page 98 of the PDF file). Additional group photographs including Jones are scattered throughout this edition of the yearbook, as well in the 1918 , 1919 , and 1920 yearbooks.
The James Bernard Jones Memorabilia contains several pieces of ephemera related to Virginia Polytechnic Institute: a pamphlet on the programs of study available at VPI (ca. 1913), a Thanksgiving menu (1917), and a commencement program (1922). The VPI pamphlet includes panoramic images of the campus, information on types of courses and student activities, and facts about the school. It also includes a certificate of Jones' Sunday school attendance (1916) from Gordonville, Virginia.
The collection is arranged chronologically.
