The first Virginia Tech women's rugby team was formed in 1979 and included multiple lesbians who had previously played flag football. Since the early 1990s, women's rugby at Virginia Tech has been a club sport competing in the Blue Ridge Conference at the Division 1 level.

This collection contains a copy of the Virginia Tech women's rugby schedule for the spring semester of 1981, an undated flyer advertising an interest meeting for women's rugby, two photographs taken during a women's rugby game, and a card meant to be handed out to raise awareness about the LGBTQ+ community.
