Biographical/Historical Information
Daniel Hoge Bruce (1846-1915) lived in Wise County, Virginia. He married Martha Karr in 1876.
Scope and Content
This is a typescript of Daniel Bruce's daily diary from 1895 to 1904. He discusses the weather, crops, politics, local events, and community members around Big Stone Gap in Wise County, Virginia. It also includes brief family genealogical information, and additional family notes are handwritten in the margins.
According to the typed cover, the original diary is owned by Mrs. Rosa Bruce Stradley. This typescript was printed by Mrs. Hattie Bruce Cummings and Betty Sue Cummings for his descendants.
