Biographical Information
Valley Lumber Corporation was a lumber, millwork, and design company located in Roanoke, Virginia. It was in business during the mid to late 20th century. Wetherburn's Tavern was owned by Henry Wetherburn from 1738 to 1760, who also operated as the tavernkeeper at times. The tavern was purchased by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in 1764 as an example of tavern life in colonial era Williamsburg. Parts of the original eighteenth century building were intact, but much had been altered prior to the colonial era. Valley Lumber Corporation was one of the companies contracted to restore this building to its former glory.
Scope and Content
A series of architectural plans made for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation by the Valley Lumber Corporation of Wetherburn's Tavern. The plans are for millwork to be done by Valley Lumber Corporation for the restoration of Wetherburn's Tavern after the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation bought the original building in 1964. This includes reproductions of the eighteenth century widowsills, doors, and other woodwork in the building.
