Abstract
The collection documents the Women's Center, which provides information and support to women students through courses, programs, conferences and support groups. The collection contains newsletters, course and event fliers, memos, a listing of courses offered each semester, photographs, newspaper clippings.

Biographical or Historical Information

The Women's Center opened in 1976 and is responsible for providing information and support to older and/or returning women students through courses, programs, conferences and support groups.  It also provides information on issues important to students, including sexual assault on campus.  In 1995, the Women in Leadership and Development (W.I.L.D.) program was started, which supports women aspiring to attain leadership roles by enhancing leadership skills, and creating a social network for like-minded women.

Scope and Contents

The collection contains newsletters, event fliers, memos, photographs, and other material related to the Women's Center at Old Dominion University. Aimed at the female student population at Old Dominion University, the Women's Center offers programs and services to promote gender equality.

Portions of the collection have been digitized and are available in the Old Dominion University Libraries Digital Collections.

The collection is organized into four series: Series I: Administrative; Series II: Courses, Programs, Seminars, and Workshops; Series III: Events; and Series IV: Photographs.
