The George Matthews Modlin Award for Student Book Collections was established by the faculty of the University of Richmond
in 1971 to honor Dr. George M. Modlin upon his retirement as president of the University of Richmond and to encourage undergraduate
students to develop focused collections of books pertaining to their particular areas of interest. Collections are eligible
for the award only during the student's senior year. The winner's name is inscribed on a plaque in Boatwright Memorial Library
and is acknowledged in the Commencement Program.
Papers are organized into a single series, arranged chronologically and updated annually. There were no winners documented
for 1975, 1980, 1983. The winning entries from 2007 (Carmen Del Valle Hermo), 2008 (Jacob Neal), and 2015 (co-winners Melissa
Diamond & Kassie Andreadis) were not archived.
