The materials were donated to the Department by Mr. Burnett in 1987.

Mr. Burnett was on the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors for many years.

The collection contains copies of materials on the history and government of Chesterfield County and some published materials. Photographs have been transferred to the University Photograph Collection.
