Acquistion
Biographical / Historical
Abraham Lyons was born in 1850 in Buttik, Kovno Guberna, Lithuania. In 1910 he emigrated to the United States where he lived in Baltimore, Maryland with his wife, Brina. While residing in Baltimore, Lyons worked as a tailor in a men's clothing factory. After the death of his wife, Lyons moved to Roanoke, Virginia to live with his children until his death in 1933. His grandson is Dr. Harry Lyons, former Dean of the School of Dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia.

The collection includes a prayer book, prayer shawl, and yarmulka which belonged to Abraham Judah Lyons.
