Biographical Note
William Harrison Graham, the son of Noah and Drusilla Thornton Graham, was born May 25, 1893, in Pulaski County, Virginia. He married Minnie Viers (1896-1963), and the couple had 11 children. In the 1910 census, Willie H. Graham appears as an 18-year-old rock quarry laborer, living in Pulaski County's Hiwassee District with his parents and younger siblings. By the time of the 1920 census, William H. Graham was living in Radford and was employed as a laborer at an extract plant. Still living in Radford at the time of the 1930 census, William H. Graham was described as a 37-year-old retail store merchant. Also in the household were his wife Minnie, 33, and seven children. William H. Graham died on March 29, 1964, and is buried in Radford's Westview Cemetery.
Scope and Content
This collection contains two account books maintained by William H. Graham, a general store merchant in Radford, Virginia. Though one book is labeled a daybook and the other a ledger, both seem to have been used for the same purpose. Each volume records the names of customers, goods purchased, and prices. Most of the transactions have been crossed out as "paid." Though the books are dated, the individual transactions are not.
Arrangement
The collection is arranged chronologically.
