No further definite record of this John Dougherty could be found. A John Dougherty (or Daugherty) appears in the 1810 census as a resident of Wythe County.
Scope and Content
This collection contains a single voucher made payable to John Dougherty, likely for militia service. The voucher is said to be from Wythe County, Virginia, though it bears no markings placing it there. The voucher reads in full: "No. 3776--I certify that there is due to John Dougherty the sum of twenty one Dollars 70/100 being for twenty three + half days service at nine pounds pr month C. C. July 30th 1796 [signed] Jas Thompson." Dougherty's signature on the reverse side indicates that he received the amount due him.
