Source of Acquisition
The Silvia Paun Architectural Collection was donated to Special Collections in multiple accruals in 1991, 1992, 2000, and 2004.
Processing Information
The processing, arrangement and description of the Silvia Paun Architectural Collection commenced in June 2010 and was completed in June 2010. A preliminary arrangement was begun in 1991.
Biographical Note
Silvia Paun was born in Chisinau, Romania in 1923. She graduated from the Architecture Faculty in Bucharest in 1948. She spent 30 years as an architect specializing in socio-cultural buildings while employed in Central State Institute of Bucharest. She had more than 50 urban and rural projects completed between 1953 and 1977 and authored 26 studies, 25 papers, and 14 exhibitions about the role of architecture between 1960 and 1995. Her first book was published in 1981, which won a prize from the Architects Union in Romania (UAR) and won appreciation from UNESCO. She participated in 4 International Congresses of Architecture (UIFA) and has received numerous honors for architectural conception, architectural and scientific research, and her architectural books.
Scope and Content
The collection contains one folder of seven photographs of children's clinics designed by Paun from 1953 to 1977 in Romania. One box with nine folders contains numerous articles from 1960 to 1995, as well as her curriculum vitae, pamphlets, exhibition descriptions, and letters written to and from Milka Bliznakov.

The collection is arranged chronologically by project and article publication date.
