Biographical Note
J. Lawrence Radford attended the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College in the early 1870s. While Radford's enrollment in VAMC can be confirmed as early as 1872, he graduated with a certificate in Agriculture and Mechanics in 1875. Information also exists to suggest that Radford, alongside President Minor, spoke to the 1876 graduating class prior to graduation on August 9th of the same year at an alumni meeting in the Lee Society hall. Also, in a book by Joanne Spiers Moche titled Families of Grace Through 1900: Remembering Radford, Volume 1 , Central Depot's three primary farmers are listed, placing a James Lawrence Radford on the top of the list with 1,260 acres of land.
