The collection was acquired by Special Collections prior to 2008.
Processing Information
The processing, arrangement, and description of the Hite Family Genealogy Notes was completed in January 2013.
This daybook was found in a box titled Gallaher Family, with two other ledgers: Household Management Ledger, Ms2012-085, and Olive Family Genealogy Notes, Ms2012-086. No obvious connection could be found between the three ledgers, so they were processed as separate collections.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of a daybook with the notes from a genealogy on the Hans Joist Hite Family. There are no dates to indicate when the research was collected. Notes from the daybook state that Hans and his family immigrated to New York from Strasburg, Germany, around the year 1710. Other surnames mentioned in the daybook that are related to Hans Hite's family include du Bois, Bouman, Chrisman, and Froman. McKay, Green, Duff, and Stephens are also surnames that are discussed, but it is unclear how they are connect to the Hite family.
