Abstract
The collection consists primarily of the correspondence and other materials of Alfred Krebs in his capacity as Vice President
for Special Projects (1975-1976). The collection also includes materials from his period as Interim Vice President for Academic
Affairs (1972-1975). His duties as Vice President for Special Projects included university financial functions, chairmanship
of the Computer Committee, Systems Development, Institutional Research, and the coordination of the Equal Employment Opportunity
and Affirmative Action Programs. There are materials regarding such subjects as consulting projects, cases from the Judicial
Review committee, the Telecommunication Committee, and the University Council. Correspondence and other documents detail the
formation and management of the Computer Committtee, the creation and implementation of an Affirmative Action Plan,and procedures
for implementing Title IX regulations.

Processing Information
The processing, arrangement and description of the collection commenced in March 2007 and completed in December 2007.
Alfred H. Krebs (1920-2012) was educated at Cornell University, earning a B.A. in 1941, an M.A. in 1943, and a Ph.D. in 1950.
He served in the U.S. Army During World War II. He held positions in agricultural education at the University of Illinois
and the University of Maryland, until joining Virginia Tech as professor and head of agricultural education in 1969.
Krebs was named Director of Summer School in 1970 and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs in 1972. When Dr. Malpass
left Virginia Tech in 1974, Dr. Krebs served as Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs until John D. Wilson assumed the
post in September 1975.
Next, Krebs was named Acting Vice President for Special Projects and then Vice President for Special Projects until his appointment
in 1977 as Vice President for Administration. Krebs retired in August 1981.
