Administrative History
The Coordinating Council for Women's Concerns (CCWC) was formed in 1989 to coordinate the work of several programs and groups in the university related to women. The group promoted initiatives against inequality and developed support systems for women at Virginia Tech and in the community. The CCWC proposed the idea of a Women's Center at Virginia Tech, which was formed in 1994. Members of the council came from other organizations, including the Women's Research Institute, the Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action's Subcommittee on Women, the Association for Women in Development, the Women's Studies Program, university governance, and more.

The Records of the Coordinating Council for Women's Concerns contains minutes, correspondence, reports, brochures, and more from May 1988 to August 1992. Subjects include the development of a women's center, equality on campus, affirmative action, history of the group, and more.
