Biographical Note
Otis Ashton Waldrop (1901-1990) was born in Hanover Co., Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He served as a major in the U. S. Army during World War II, and served as chief of design and construction for the U. S. General Services Administration region 3. He supervised the construction of the Smithsonian Museum of Science and Technology.

Scope and Content
The collection contains photographs of Post Offices and other Government buildings, primarily in Indiana, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. Identified buildings include the Greensboro Agriculture and Post Office, US Coast Guard Air Station in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Virginia Polytechnic Institute Upper Quad, and more. Several photographs are attached to scrapbook pages, while others are loose. Some buildings are not identified. The photos were collected by Otis Waldrop, probably while chief of design and construction for the U. S. General Services Administration region 3.
