Source of Acquisition

Records of Virginia Tech's The National Capital Region were donated to the Special Collections and University Archives in 2017. An additional donation was received in 2023.

Processing Information

The processing, arrangement, and description of the Records of Virginia Tech's The National Capital Region was completed in October 2023.

Administrative History

Beginning in 1969, the Virginia Tech National Capital Region has established collaborations and partnerships with various businesses and higher education institutions around the Washington D.C. area to help support the mission of the university. Current locations include Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Falls Church, Leesburg, Manassas, and Middleburg with over 30 graduate degree programs and certificates.

Scope and Content

The Records of Virginia Tech National Capital Region contain materials relating to the National Capital Region between 1991 to 2014. Box 1 and Box 2 include documents such as administrative documents, advertisements, and conference programs, as well as records about the construction of the Virginia Tech Research Center in Arlington, Virginia in 2011. Box 3 and Box 4 house scrapbooks that consist of clippings and photocopies of newspapers discussing or advertising the National Capital Region. Box 5 contains a hard hat with the Virginia Tech National Capital Region logo on the front.

The collection is in original order, which is chronological.
