Biographical / Historical
Images of the interior and exterior of the Lee House on Washington and Lee University's front campus. The house was built by the college for then college president Robert E. Lee and his family. After the deaths of Robert E. Lee and his wife, Mary Anna Custis Lee, the house was occupied by his son George Washington Custis Lee during his term as president Washington and Lee University (WLU). The historic interior photographs were taken during Custis Lee's presidency of WLU. These images are copies of originals - some of which were by photogrpaher Michael Miley.
