Biographical Information:
Owen G. Jarboe worked in the telephone industry since 1914. From 1936-1943 he was General Traffic Supervisor of Associated Telephones, first in California, then in New York City. In 1943 he was commissioned as Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve and reported for Signal Corps basic training at Fort Monmouth, NJ.
Scope and Contents
The following description was excerpted from a note by the seller: "Two scrapbooks, 1928-1948, of Owen Jarboe, General Traffic Supervisor of the Associated Telephone Co. and later of the US Army Signal Corps. Included are newspaper clippings, greeting cards, correspondence and photographs. There are original Signal Corp photographs that are duplicated in magazine articles, some of which include Owen Jarboe, who also wrote some of the articles. There are also Rotarian items in the books but Signal Corps and Associated Telephone Co. items are featured predominantly. "
Also includes documentation on the United Nations Conference on International Organization (1945 : San Francisco, Calif.) that Jarboe attended.
Volume I of the scrapbooks contains documents from Jarboe's days in the telephone industry prior to World War II, with Volume II documenting Jarboe's time with the US Army Signal Corps during World War II.
