Scope and Contents

Original newspapers privately printed in Gloucester, Virginia by Douglas P. Smith on a child's Swiftset printing press. Most are one page. Issue sizes vary from 3.5 x 5.5 to 7 x 7.5.

Also included are personal papers of Douglas P. Smith and two June 1945 editions of a newsletter, "The Gloucester Pointer."

Arrangement of Materials:

The first series are the dated newspapers, filed chronologically.  The second series are the undated newspapers and they are grouped by the titles of the issues.  The third series are newspaper duplicates, the fourth series are other printed materials and the fifth series are miscellaneous personal papers.
