Alfred did not think they helped him get the job; two, Alfred rented a house in Arkansas from Prof. David Thomas and had a dispute over rent, settled by arbitration; still awaiting news from draft; took over a life insurance policy; Arthur was in army and wrote of experience especially training with Negro units; relating family news were Lillie, Annie Shield James and a poem by Alfred.
