The collection is open to all researchers. Catherine Powell letter, 1861 June 10, to "Ellen" (assumed to be her daughter Mary Ellen Powell Adie) about the evacuation of Alexandria, Virginia after its occupation by Union forces on May 24, 1861. This letter is written from a Confederate point of view.
