During the Civil War (1861-1865), the church disbanded and functioned as a hospital for Confederate soliders. The church re-established itself in 1868 and experienced a series of dissolutions and reorganizations throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. In 2002, the congregation moved to a location on Elko Road in Sandston, Virginia.
