Scope and Contents
Account book, 1831-1837 and 1844 of the brothers, John Swartz, Jr., Christian Swartz and Jacob Swartz of Shenandoah, Virginia. Most of the entries are accounts with customers for making or mending shoes, but it has other entries like wages for 'trashing wheat' and 'hauling wood' interspersed throughout the volume. Only one of the entries is for 1844.
An entry on the inside cover reads "(?) Swartz his account book" and the name John Swartz is mentioned frequently. Names of other Swartz family members mentioned in the volume are Jacob, Christian, Samuel and Sarah.
