Biographical Information
Dr. Charles W. Owens was Vice President for Academic Affairs at Radford University in the 1990's. He was named interm President of the University when Dr. Donald Dedmon announced his retirement in June 1994 after holding the office for 22 years. Dr. Owens returned to Academic Affairs in June of 1995 when Dr. Douglas Covington was named the fifth president of Radford University.
Scope and Content
The Academic Affairs - Vice President for Academic Affairs Records - Dr. Charles W. Owens Records contain various reports generated by Dr. Charles C. Owens while he was Vice President of Academic Affairs at Radford University. This three Box collection includes Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Reports from 1983 and 1984, information on faculty salaries, retirement and recruitment plans from the 1980's, a mission statement for 1973 and a Cost of Living Subcommittee Report from 1987.
Various State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) reports are also present in these records and include names such as Grade Inflation Study -1977 and Study of Baccalaureate Graduates Race In Virginia from 1980. Also included under the SCHEV heading are the Writing Across the Curriculum Annual Reports from 1987-1988.
Also included is information about the Virginia Plan with documents named Faculty Recruitment Plan - 1983, Narrative Statement: 1979-1981 amd SCHEV- The Virginia Program 1979. As well as the Radford University Affirmitive Action Plan from 1986.
